He told CBS Sports: "Near the end of my career I knew I wanted to get into ownership, I just didn't know… I looked at MLS, I looked at NWSL and I also looked at the Premier League and the Burnley opportunity came about and every single box was checked, it was a perfect match. I truly love it, this is my true passion project."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Watt has taken his role as co-owner of the Clarets incredibly seriously, serving as an inspiration for other athletes who are interested in ownership in the game. The 34-year-old has traveled to England for matches, hung out with fans at local pubs and served as an ambassador on social media in the USA. He even went on a VAR rant about a call that did not go Burnley's way earlier this season!
WHAT NEXT FOR WATT AND BURNLEY?
The Clarets' tough string of matches is set to continue this weekend as they next take on Mikel Arteta and Arsenal in the Premier League. They'll look to climb out of the relegation zone with a crucial three points on the cards.
