The Bats announced the signing of the USWNT duo Thursday afternoon, as they continue their 2024 roster overhaul. After defeating OL Reign in NWSL final in 2023, a team that sported both Lavelle and Sonnett, the duo are set to join the winners that knocked them out last campaign.

“I am very excited to work with Emily Sonnett next season, as we continue to build off our success from last season,” said head coach Juan Carlos Amorós. “She is a very strong player, who plays the game with great passion. We are very excited to have a player and leader like her at the club.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Bats are having an eye-catching offseason, with the additions of Crystal Dunn and Tierna Davidson already in the books. The additions of Lavelle and Sonnet mark four different USWNT stars joining them, and four World Cup champions as well. Coming off their first-ever NWSL Championship in 2023, they've arguably created an even better roster heading into 2024.
