Earps has enjoyed a meteoric rise since Sarina Wiegman became Lionesses manager in 2021. Earps enjoyed a strong World Cup campaign over the summer, although her second-half penalty save could not prevent England from losing 1-0 to Spain in the final. The 30-year-old was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament before she was crowned as the best female keeper in the world at the Ballon d'Or awards last month. She achieved the highest-ever finish (fifth) for a goalkeeper in the overall women's award.
WHAT MARY EARPS SAID
In an interview with GQ, Earps admitted that her England team-mates don't like the 'Mary Queen of Stops' nickname. "They would throw up before they called me that," she said. "Itβs either Burps or Mearps."
