The Barcelona loanee had been a hit with the Dutch giants during his loan spell. However, late last month, the USMNT star suffered a knee injury during a training session and was later confirmed to have torn his ACL. Having undergone surgery, the 23-year-old has provided an update on Instagram.

Dest posted an Instagram story of him leaving the hospital in a wheelchair post-surgery and he captioned the video: "Surgery went well! Thank GOD! Now it's time to look forward."

Dest looked set to attract an offer from PSV for a permanent move away from Barcelona, however, the injury has now thrown those plans into disarray as the USMNT defender is unlikely to return to action at least until the latter parts of the year. The injury has also ruled out Dest's chances of appearing in the Copa America in the United States with Gregg Berhalter's USMNT side.
WHAT NEXT FOR DEST?
The USMNT star will now begin his rehabilitation program and will return to Barcelona to continue his recovery with his PSV loan deal set to expire in June. It is now likely that Dest will remain with Barcelona next season while he continues his return to full fitness.
